Martian Manhunter

Martian Manhunter is one of the first members of the Justice League.
His first appearance was in 1955 in Detective Comics #225 by DC comics.

The name Martian comes from the planet name Ma'aleca'andra. A Martian is a Ma'aleca'andra citizen.

He had a twin brother who was born a mutant. Their parents didn't bother to hide their feelings about who is their favorite. They named Martian J'onn J'onzz, that means "Light to the Light", and they named his brother Ma'alefa'ak, which means "Darkness in the Heart".

J'onzz met a Martian woman and married her, they had a daughter named K'hym. He worked as a police man in their planet and life was good for him and his family.

Meanwhile J'onzz brother grew up bitter and mean, feeling neglected and unloved by his parents. He decided to take out his rage on the entire Martian civilization and he tried to commit a genocide on his own people.
He created a contagious virus that infects everyone when they use their psionic powers.
When someone was infected, the virus reacted so quickly and so intense that it caused their body to burst into flames.

J'onzz had to watch his daughter K'hym and his wife M'yri'ah die before his eyes, and almost drove him mad and lose his mind.

At the same time, on earth, Dr. Saul Erdel found an ancient Martian technology and he developed a machine that was supposed to function as a communication device with aliens.
As he was trying to communicate, he sent out a beam to outer spcae, the beam hit J'onzz and brought J'onzz to earth right in front of the Doctor's lab in Colorado.



J'onzz arrived to earth a wrack, both mentally and phisically.
Erdel took care of him, he nursed him and talked to him. Although J'onzz couldn't speak for a long time, Erdel caught some words here and there until he undestood what happened there on his planet.

The fact that Erdel knew his secret and the events that occured on planet Ma'aleca'andra brought Erdel and J'onzz closer. They trusted each other.
Erdel decided to "plant" a new history in Martian's brain. Erdel created a back-story based on a Sci-Fi book he read and told J'onzz he should become a great champion.

J'onzz adopted the custome of the Martian Manhunter. He was ready to face the new world.


A short while after that Erdel had a heart attack and passed away, eliminating any chance for J'onzz to return to his planet.
J'onzz had to adopt himself to earth. He had no problem disguising as a human. He changed his name to "John Jones" and joined the police force and secretly used his special abilities to capture the bad guys (later he changed his identity to Marco Xavier to sneak in a crime organization).

Later on he founded a group called "The Justice League of America", which was later known as the Justice League. The Martian Manhunter is definitely one of DC's most famous superheroes. The superhero movies and games are well known and are fun to play, just like Online Spiderman games and Batman games.
