Carnage

People tend to think by mistake that Carnage and Venom are the same.
The story begins when Cletus Kasady, a small kid, saw his father
murder his mother in front of him.
The truth is that she tried to kill Cletus first, that’s why his father killed his mother.

Although Cletus knew the reason why his father did what he did, he testified against him in court
and sent him to the electric chair.

Later he also revealed that he pushed his grandmother down the stairs and killed her too.
He grew up to be a mean serial killer without any inhibition.

Cletus Kasady was serving time in prison for mass murders, when during a bold
prison break he merged with the evil and psychotic Venom, and so Carnage was born.

After the merge the symbiote turned Cletus, now Carnage, even more vicious and
unstable than he already was, entering his bloodstream and taking over his
personality with his psychotic nature.

Usually when Venom merged with someone the two were one but you could never refer
to Venom as a single separate entity.
Carnage was different. He referred to himself as “I”, having the
Venom entity inside his bloodstream.

Carnage is actually a mutation of Venom, a transformation to more evil form.
In different occasions Carnage functioned as a symbiotic and attached himself to other hosts.
The most famous was Doctor Octopus.
Pretty soon the Carnage symbiotic was a totally independent entity and he didn’t need to use
Cletus’s body, so he decided to abandon him and moved on to Ben Reilly (another villain).

Cletus’s body started to age and deteriorates quickly. Carnage came back to merge with him again
and revive his energy just to leave his again, this time for Silver Surfer (aka Carnage Cosmic).
This was too much for Cletus’s body and he died from stomach cancer (same as Eddie Brock, the original Venom).

Later on the wheels have turned. Carnage went out of control and being so evil and mean
by nature it had to be stopped.
For that mission Venom hooked up with Spiderman. They used his weakness for massive heat.
They managed to separate Carnage from Cletus and went after him.

Carnage was also one of the many villains that tried to escape from the raft.
His story ended when he tried to kill 2 people who came to visit an inmate.
The inmate name Sentry intervened and threw Carnage to outer space outside the atmosphere.
Carnage entity ripped apart, and that was the end of him.

Carnage first appeared in 1991 in edition #344 of “The Amazing Spider-Man”.
He was chosen as one of the top 100 of the greatest comic villains of all time.
